Safeguarding & Keeping You Safe
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
At Global Mega Care Ltd, the Healthy & safety, dignity, wellbeing and rights of the people we support are at the heart of everything we do.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, neglect, exploitation and avoidable harm. We are committed to creating an environment where people feel safe, respected, listened to and able to speak openly if something does not feel right.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We encourage the people we support, their families, representatives, staff and professionals involved in their care to speak up whenever they have a concern.
Our Safeguarding Promise
Proactive Protection
We take appropriate steps to help protect the people we support. This includes completing appropriate pre-employment checks, including enhanced DBS checks where required, and providing safeguarding training and ongoing support to our staff.
Our team is expected to understand how to recognise signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other risks, and to respond appropriately to concerns.
Types of Abuse & Exploitation
Abuse can take different forms, and a person may experience more than one type of abuse or exploitation.
We recognise and take seriously concerns relating to:
• Physical abuse
• Emotional or psychological abuse
• Sexual abuse
• Financial or material abuse
• Neglect and acts of omission
• Discriminatory abuse
• Organisational or institutional abuse
• Domestic abuse
• Self-neglect
• Modern slavery and human trafficking
• Criminal or financial exploitation
• Other forms of abuse, coercion, control or exploitation
We understand that abuse may not always be obvious. Changes in behaviour, communication, relationships, finances, health or circumstances may sometimes indicate that someone needs additional support or protection.
Responding to Concerns
Every safeguarding concern is taken seriously.
If a concern is raised by a person we support, their family, representative, staff member or another professional, we will respond promptly and follow our safeguarding policy and procedures. Where appropriate, we will make referrals to relevant safeguarding services or other external agencies and cooperate fully with any investigation.
You do not need to be certain that abuse or neglect is taking place before raising a concern. If something does not feel right, we want to hear from you.
Empowerment, Choice & Dignity
Safeguarding is not only about protecting people from harm. It is also about helping people have choice, control and independence in their own lives.
We listen to the people we support and involve them in decisions about their care and support, taking account of their wishes, feelings, beliefs and preferences.
We respect their dignity, privacy, independence and right to be heard.
Our aim is to help people feel safe and confident while continuing to live their lives in the way that matters to them.
Mental Capacity, Consent & Best Interests
We respect each person’s right to make their own decisions and choices.
Where someone may have difficulty making a particular decision, we follow the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and support the person to participate in decisions as fully as possible.
Where a person lacks capacity to make a specific decision, any decision made on their behalf will be approached in accordance with the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, including acting in the person’s best interests and using the least restrictive approach appropriate to the circumstances.
Safeguarding Governance
We maintain appropriate safeguarding policies, procedures, training and management oversight to support safe and effective practice.
Our safeguarding arrangements are reviewed regularly and updated where necessary to reflect relevant legislation, guidance, local safeguarding arrangements and learning from practice.
If a safeguarding concern involves a member of our management team, including the Registered Manager, it will be escalated through an appropriate alternative route to support an impartial response and investigation.
Our Safeguarding Lead
Our Registered Manager, Larissa Horst, is also our Safeguarding Lead.
If you have a safeguarding concern, you can contact her directly or speak to any member of our team.
